Who do you admire? Who do you place on a pedestal? And I’m not talking about your mom or dad or who raised you. That’s obvious. I’m talking about things we see and covet everyday.
So who do you covet? An actor, a singer … talk show host perhaps. Political figure, football player, model, maybe even a coworker. If you could be anyone else in your life who would you choose to be?
What can I do to make you understand that you are as important as those you covet. We look for people to save us. We look everyday. Those we covet can not save us, only you can save yourself. Everyday you give power to other people, power over yourself. Why?? Why can you not see that you are powerful on your own.
And I know you’re out there tonight. Believing in your heart that you are less than others, letting it drag you down and taking a piece of who you are everyday. We are all of us fighting each other, when in reality you are only ever fighting yourself.
Your idols got where they are by the sacrifices of those who love them. The person who sacrifices in love for another is the true idol and hero, and the person I find the most interesting in the room. When all things become hollow those are the people who will keep you sane.
You are your own pedestal.
Succeed in the fight with yourself and burn your idols. And all the rest is love.
